OXFORD, Mississippi – A dedicated softball website claims Ole Miss’s program is under investigation for Title IX violation.
Title IX is federal law that prohibits discrimination based on sex in education programs and activities, according to the US Department of Education.
The website called Running Poles reports that the complaint concerns a relationship between a coach and a player.
FOX13 has contacted the University, the Sports Department and the NCAA.
The site claims that another player took screenshots of the messages between the player and the coach.
Ole Miss fan Jay Hutchins has expressed his opinion. “Yeah, I already know it’s not a good look for the team. Said Hutchins.
Running Poles claims to have a letter between the NCAA and Ole Miss Athletics regarding the investigation.
Running Poles claim that a second coach tried to cover up what happened by offering one of the players a purse to shut up.
Ole Miss fan Asa Chandler says he’s not sure what to believe.
“Yes, I absolutely hope that is not true and I hope that the investigation will shed some light on what really happened and like I said, I hope it is not. true but we’ll see. ” Chandler said.
A spokesperson for Ole Miss would only tell FOX13 that the university is not commenting on reviews of Title IX.
FOX13 has also contacted the US Department of Education and Running Poles for comment.
