VALORANT developers reveal the creative process behind Sentinels of Light and Ruination skins

VALUING ‘The Premium Content Team explained the process of creating Sentinels of Light and Ruin skins in a new blog post today.

Chris Stone, a weapons artist on the VALUING the premium content team, went into details to bring the League of Legends in-game cross skins and how this enabled the team to create new “materials” for the skins.

The Sentinels of Light and Ruination skins are part of the Riot Games summer event covering important titles like VALUING, League, and Legends of Runeterra. VALUING does not exist in the same fictional universe as League, but gun designers always loved to introduce fans of this game to the tactical first person shooter.

Stone worked with the team’s FX artist to bring the ‘iconic shapes’ of the Black Mist effect that pervades Runeterra to VALUING weapons without affecting their competitive integrity.

The team used one of artist FX’s textures in the material they created for the Ruination skins, which can be seen as the Black Mist effect circulating inside the crystals. They also collaborated with artist FX working on the smoke trails for the skins, making sure they matched the “intensity” of the newly created custom material.

Sentinels of Light skins focus on Relic Stones, which keep the Black Mist at bay. The idea is that Sentinels of Light skins are equipped with Relic Stones and can contain the Black Mist in Ruination skins, just like Stones do in Ruination Skins. League universe.

This cooperative and intense design process has resulted in two skin packs which are great additions to VALUING and a welcome sign to League Fans.
