Newcastle fans took to Twitter to react after noticing the official site’s subscriptions section had crashed, amid news of the takeover.

What is the story?

Well, many Newcastle fans have sworn to themselves that they won’t set foot inside St James’ Park as long as Mike Ashley is in the driver’s seat.

Now, with Tyneside’s most unpopular man closer than ever to the start, it looks like a group of supporters are now rushing to return.

As a result, the website cannot quite handle the demand.

On the other hand, it may not have crashed – the subscriptions section may only be on ice for now.

It’s entirely speculative, but the new owners could potentially offer fans some form of discount or promotional offer.

Perhaps that is why supporters are currently unable to purchase season tickets.

Whatever the reason, it feels like new life has been breathed into Newcastle Football Club – what a time.

Newcastle takeover announcement is monumental

For the past 14 years, supporters have seen their club disband from a Champions League team into relegation fodder.

Ashley sucked life out of Newcastle, and at the risk of sounding dramatic, he also ruined lives in Tyneside.

Football is all that matters to some people, it’s their life.

They live and breathe to watch their side on the weekends, but Ashley has snatched it away from thousands for too long.

Believe us, it’s truly overwhelming to be in a situation where you can’t wait to watch your beloved soccer club play.

Besides football, this will also re-energize Tyneside and put the Magpies back on the map.

A sleeping giant is about to wake up.

For now, let’s see what Newcastle fans on Twitter have said about the website…
