Santa Monica Asks Sheriff Villanueva to Help Solve Vagrancy Problems | KFI AM 640

Santa Monica sees more and more vagrant problems.

The city does not have vagrants living on the beach but rather in front of shops and parking lots.

John Alle, who owns and operates property in Santa Monica, has denounced the rise in disgusting behavior on the Third Street Promenade and parking lots.

John told CBS2:

John Alle, along with other Promenade establishment and business owners, say they are not getting help from city officials, so they look to the LA County Sheriff’s Department for answers .

“My goal is to have this back in the living room of Santa Monica. Right now it’s a bathroom, ”said owner John Alle.

Alle has three spaces along the Third Street Promenade, which it says are now struggling to maintain foot traffic due to the homeless population.

“Urine, defecation – no one should have to go through that,” he said. “The bottom line is that there is 65% vacancy and a lot of the stores you see here are monthly. It definitely keeps people away. The word is spreading.

Alle and others said they contacted several leaders, but to no avail.

John Alle told John & Ken that Santa Monica business owners are asking Sheriff Villanueva for help because local city council members aren’t helping.
