25 October 2021

The Ramsey County Library and the Friends of Ramsey County Libraries are pleased to announce the publication of “This Was 2020: Minnesotans Write About Pandemics and Social Justice in a Historic Year” is now available for print-on-demand. The paperback is available to order at local bookstores or online.

Edited by staff at the Ramsey County Library and featuring 51 writers from across Minnesota, “This Was 2020” captures people’s experiences and thoughts on lockdowns from the COVID-19 pandemic and the Justice for George Floyd as well as other social and political upheavals of the year. This collection of writings encouraged Minnesotans to write and reflect on a tumultuous year as a way to learn, heal, and imagine a better future for all.

Originally published using the Minnesota Libraries Publishing Project’s suite of online tools for independent publishing, the book can be read online.

“This Was 2020” is the recipient of the Minnesota Author Project Award in the Communities Create category, which recognizes independent authors published in the state.

The Friends of Ramsey County Libraries serves as official publisher. Neither the Ramsey County Library nor the Friends of Ramsey County Libraries receive any revenue from the sale of this book. This project was funded by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
