Pune-based Instant Loan Application Recovery Officer Detained for Incitement to Suicide


Visakhapatnam: City police arrested instant loan app recovery agent for driving woman to suicide in Vizag.

Identified as Gautham Mule, he was working as a loan collector with instant loan finance app, “Hyper Tails” in Koregaon Park, Cosmos Bank in Pune of Maharashtra.

Mule was arrested after Mandava Ahalada, a 25-year-old woman, a resident of Gajuwaka in Vizag town, committed suicide after being harassed by the loan collector.

Three other Parasuram Lahu, Liang Tiantian and HR Hakib Sheik are also accused of encouraging the woman’s suicide.

DCP (Crimes) V Suresh Babu declared unable to endure harassment and humiliation for non-payment of instant loans, Mandava Ahalada ended his life on November 3, 2020.

Gajuwaka police had opened an investigation based on the complaint from Ahalada’s mother, Usha Rani. After registering a case under IPC section 306 (incitement to suicide), the case was referred to the central police station for further investigation into the case.

Family members told police she was depressed about harassment from loan app companies. Loan collectors repeatedly sent her voicemail and other humiliating messages.

The investigation revealed that the woman had repaid more than 80% of the loan amount with interest. However, she was in depression as she regularly received calls for loan applications.
