Madison County Transit rolls out new website and new ride offerings

To celebrate Earth Day and in response to rising fuel prices, Madison County Transit (MCT) is encouraging Madison County residents to explore more sustainable transportation options for their daily commute.

With fixed-route bus service, 135 miles of bike paths known as MCT Trails, and the RideFinders carpool and rideshare program, MCT offers a variety of greener transportation alternatives. MCT bus service in Madison County is just $1 each way and with service between communities and within communities, there are a number of great options for those who live and work locally.

MCT Express bus routes transport passengers to and from the heart of downtown St. Louis throughout the morning and afternoon rush hours and pick them up at 10 convenient park and ride locations across the county of Madison. MCT Express trips are only $3 each way or $5 for a day pass. Rides are even more affordable and convenient with a bus pass, which can now be purchased on your phone.

MCT also operates the regional rideshare and ridesharing program for St. Louis commuters known as RideFinders. Using a simple online ride-matching system at, RideFinders connects St. Louis-area workers looking to share the ride, drive, and cost of a route.

Passengers can carpool in their own vehicle or carpool if there are five or more riding together. RideFinders supplies the van, covers gas, maintenance and insurance for one low monthly cost. MCT is pleased to help ease traffic congestion and improve air quality by helping our community members with smart transportation options through carpooling and public transit.

Another benefit of riding an MCT Express route or participating in a RideFinders carpool/carpool is the Guaranteed Return Home (GRH) program. Every registered commuter is eligible to receive four guaranteed free rides home each year in the event of an emergency. RideFinders will cover a taxi, Uber, or Lyft fare of up to $125, so commuters aren’t stranded if they need to stay late or leave early.

For those interested in learning more about sustainable transportation options, visit RideFinders at the St. Louis Earth Day Festival on the Muny Grounds in Forest Park, Saturday or Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. RideFinders will be hosting fun activities at their booth and can respond. any questions you may have about sustainable transportation.

To make access to transit information even easier, MCT is today launching a redesigned website. Visitors will be greeted by a home page summarizing MCT’s four main services (Public Bus Service, Paratransit, RideFinders and MCT Trails). The new site is more mobile friendly and the information is simplified to improve the user experience.
