JOB-HUNTERS can now search for recruitment opportunities from all 31 local authorities in one place – www.localgovernmentjobs.ie.
Launched today (Thursday) by the Local Government Management Agency, localgovernmentjobs.ie is the one place to find all recruitment opportunities for local authorities across the country. The website also offers a hub of information on careers, recruitments and social benefits for local authorities.
As more and more people consider relocating beyond the country’s traditional employment centers, now is the time to consider the rewarding career opportunities available with a local authority.
Ireland’s 31 local authorities offer a wide variety of roles in various fields such as climate action, planning, arts and culture, health and sport promotion, economic and community development, etc. Working with a local authority offers the potential to make a real difference for your county and your community.
Your day of advice
The website launch coincides with Your Council Day today (Thursday), where local authorities across the country will provide insight into the important work they do throughout the year. This year’s Council Day focuses on the role that local government workers will play in the social and economic recovery of our country in the months and years to come.
The Mayo County Council Communications Department is leading the Your Council Day for Mayo campaign. Follow them on Twitter @MayoCoCo throughout the day with presentation videos available at Facebook.com/mayococo.
On social media, #YourCouncilDay / # DoLásaChomhairle will showcase the work of committed and passionate city councilors who are making a difference in the lives of people in their community. Local authorities will also provide a ‘behind the scenes’ look at a typical day on the boards and highlight all the services provided by the boards and their dedicated staff.
âWe are delighted to launch the new localgovernmentjobs.ie website – an important resource for job seekers and local authorities,â said Tim Lucey, president of the County and City Management Association (CCMA) and chief executive of the board County Cork.
âWorking for a local authority is a great career choice and gives people the opportunity to play a role in the positive development of their communities. This website brings together for the first time information on local government job opportunities, career benefits, recruitment processes and more in one central hub.
“From helping businesses get back on their feet by administering business grants and facilitating al fresco dining, to providing safe outdoor spaces and active travel opportunities for people to enjoy,” councils across the country have risen to the challenge of leading the local response to this phase of the Covid-19 pandemic.
âOur employees have been at the heart of this response and on Your Board Day this year, we’re celebrating the innovative ways they serve their community. We want more people to know about the great career opportunities we offer and to highlight how working with a local authority gives you the chance to join a team of passionate and committed people and make a real difference.
