Ajax are expecting a package worth £43million.

Arsenal have so far tabled a transfer offer worth £34m, rising to £38m, less than United’s last offer.

10:20 a.m. BST: Barcelona president Joan Laporta has insisted the club have no intention of allowing Manchester United to sign Frankie de Jong this summer.

Sources told ESPN earlier this week that United had agreed an initial €65m fee with Barca for the Dutch midfielder, although it was said there were still hurdles “important” to overcome.

De Jong, 25, is United manager Erik ten Hag’s top summer target but is also wanted by other clubs.

“Frenkie de Jong is a Barca player and he is considered one of the best players in the world,” Laporta told reporters. “We know other clubs want him, not just [Manchester] United and we have no intention of selling him. I have the feeling that the player wants to stay.

“He is happy at Barca and I will do everything I can to ensure Frenkie stays.”
