RB @ Walker Art Blogs – Art Finder at ArtsConnect Ed

ArtFinder

By Teka

I thought I would reblog this interesting in-depth post at Walker Art Blogs about the development and implementation of a new web-based  initiative called Art Finder.  Housed on-line at ArtsConnectEd.com, Art Finder is a joint venture between the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and the Walker Art Center that allows users to not only search the entire collections of both institutions, but to even build personal “collections” complete with tags and comments.  Kudos to the developers for furthering the ways that art and technology can work together at the service of education.  Could this be a template for a national partnership between museums, as a means to effectively archive their collections on-line?

Read about the process behind Art Finder here, and visit the new program in use at the two museums’ educational site, ArtsConnectEd here.
